Splitting the bill, done by the guests
Splitting a bill is a guest problem that costs the venue time. A table of eight that wants separate payment turns into one waiter, one card machine and eight trips. With aimaitred the guests do it themselves from their own phones: split equally, split by item, cover the whole table, cover a group, or pay only for one person. Each guest pays their part by card from the phone through the venue's own terminal, so the money goes straight from the guest to the venue. aimaitred never holds guest money and takes 0% of it.
How it works
- The table orders from the QR code, so the bill is already itemised by the time anyone asks to pay.
- One guest opens the bill and picks how to divide it: equally, by item, the whole table, a group within the table, or one person.
- Everyone at the table sees their own share on their own screen, and pays it by card from the phone, in cash, or at the till.
- The table closes when the parts add up. Nobody has to work out who had the second bottle.

Where this is the wrong answer
Guest-led splitting only pays off where separate payment is common: groups, long tables, after-work crowds, tourists. A bar where almost everyone pays their own round the moment they order will not feel the difference, and a fine dining room where one host always settles will feel it even less. If your waiters are not currently losing minutes to the card machine at the end of a table, this is not the reason to change anything.
Questions people actually ask
- Does aimaitred take a percentage of the payment?
- No. Platform commission on guest payments is 0%. The venue connects its own Redsys terminal, so guest card payments settle directly to the venue's account and aimaitred never holds the money. Your card acquirer still charges its own fee, and that is between you and them.
- What if one person wants to pay for everybody?
- That is one of the five modes. A guest can cover the whole table, or cover a group within the table while the rest pay their own, which is the usual shape of a work lunch.
- Can a table mix cash and card?
- Yes. Some parts can be paid by card from a phone, others in cash or at the till, and the table closes when the parts add up to the bill.
